Trips to the islands are an adventure! Island travelers must consider: the weather, the time of year, the way you’ll travel, and the stuff you need to take. Getting to the islands may require use of a ferry, a plane, or a private boat driven by a working lobsterman, or a private captain, or mailboat pilot…and sometimes a combination. If you are going by ferry, its schedule controls everyone’s plans. Don’t forget the picnic lunches, an extra layer of clothing (especially raingear) a camera, and all the program supplies the author/illustrators and volunteers may need, such as: paints, brushes, portfolios, books, book dummies, paper, etc. There are plenty of friendly people to help us manage all these logistics. The authors, illustrators, and volunteers tell us they can’t wait to take this adventure again!
