ABOUT THE ISLAND BOOK AND AUTHOR PROGRAM
Books are at the core of the Island Book & Author Program. Maine authors and illustrators of children’s books travel by boat or plane to the island schools (K-8) to share the creative side of books and bookmaking. The authors/illustrators read their book, share their creative process, and engage the children in their own magical encounters with books. Each child receives his/her own copy of the author’s book, with a personal message.
