ABOUT FRIENDS OVER BOOKS
The Friends Over Books Program, holds meetings on Swan’s Island and Southwest Harbor this summer. It links adult volunteers who love books with younger readers. Each child is given a copy of the book selected to be read by the group. The adult friends read the same books and talk about them together with the children, listening closely to the groups’ ideas and insights. Many IRW Authors who have led round table discussions of their books with Friends Over Books groups. The 2010 Friends Over Books Book List is available now.
The Selected Works of T.S. Spivet is a highlight of IRW’s summer reading program Friends Over Books. Reif Larsen will discuss his book with young readers on Swan’s Island on August 13, 2010.
